  • Yesterday, ARCC President Tricia Rogers & ARCC VP of Marketing & Communications Amanda Blanton toured the Checon LLC facility in Glens Falls. The tour was so informational and demonstrated an incredible employee focused work culture with great work-life balance and benefits. It was fascinating to learn about the fabrication of metal into electrical components, AND learn about their sustainable processes of reclamation and recycling. Thank you to Karen Winne and Randy Willmart for the tour!

  • MEMBER NEWS: Proceeds from Adirondack Runners “Race for the Lakes” donated to Floating Classroom Jane LaBombard (right in photo), secretary for the Adirondack Runners club, presented LGA Education for Action Manager Lindsey Kenna (left in photo) with a $4,000 donation to the Floating Classroom on August 7. The contribution represents the proceeds from the club’s seven-mile “Race for the Lakes,” which was held on June 22. As director of the race, Ms. LaBombard selected the LGA’s educational program as the beneficiary: “I wanted the runners to feel a direct connection to the Lake as they emerged from the woods of the bike path and felt the vastness of the Lake guide them toward the finish line in Battlefield Park,” said Ms. LaBombard. The race began at SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury and ended in Battlefield Park at the head of Lake George. “We are delighted to receive this unexpected and substantial donation from Adirondack Runners,” said Ms. Kenna, who oversees Floating Classroom operations. “The funds will help us continue to expand the locations and types of programs taught on the boat. This year we added Bolton, Hague, and Ticonderoga to our public excursions, and on August 13, the Lake George Land Conservancy will join us on a special cruise about aquatic and terrestrial invasive species.” In its fifth year, “Race for the Lakes” raises money for nonprofit programs through sponsors, race registration fees, and donations from the racers. There were 186 participants in the race this year, and the 2024 sponsors included Schermerhorn Real Estate Holdings, Brookfield Renewable U.S., Mark Schachner of the law firm Miller, Mannix, Schachner & Hafner, LLC, Hadeka Stone Corp., The Docksider restaurant, Rasp Inc., Catherine and Jack LaBombard, Aerials Gymnastics, and Tops Markets. The Lake George Association is a leading Lake-protection organization for Lake George, the Queen of American Lakes. Our work includes technical and financial assistance to property owners; world-class research and direct protection programs through The Jefferson Project, the Lake George Waterkeeper, and an array of public-private partnerships; public education programs; and public policy advocacy, all with the goal of protecting the Lake’s water quality today and for the future.
