The clear choice for energy efficient windows
About us
AeroShield is developing super-insulating, transparent inserts for windows, bringing state-of-the-art thermal comfort and energy savings into buildings at an affordable price. We work with insulated-glass manufacturers to integrate our material inside of new windows, ready to install in your home. AeroShield’s material is a breakthrough in silica aerogel research. Developed at MIT by co-founder Dr. Elise Strobach, AeroShield is the first silica aerogel to achieve optical quality comparable to glass. Our patent-pending nanostructure and proprietary manufacturing process open a world of possibilities in transparent insulation.

AeroShield is honored to receive the Great Global Innovation Challenge prize alongside our friends at MacroCycle Technologies at this year's ClimaTech Live conference in Boston. There’s nothing quite like the Massachusetts tech ecosystem and the inaugural ClimaTech conference was proof of that this week. Thank you Tod Hynes, Jennifer Turliuk, Alejandro Sevilla, Stephen Smith, Heather Takle, Kyle Collins, Meade Harris, Limor Spector, PhD, and of course the AI judge (!) for making this event happen. And we’re so grateful to Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, New Energy Nexus, Brian Halligan, and Propeller for sponsoring the prizes and supporting our mission of bringing the next generation of energy-efficient windows to every building in the U.S.!

These windows have our transparent aerogels inside, making them 50-65% more energy efficient than a double-pane window. If you're attending and are interested in building decarbonization, please reach out to Aaron Baskerville-Bridges to coordinate a meeting. And hopefully you can help us get a photo with less reflections and his eyes open!

Thank you to Built Environment Plus, Greentown Labs, Mass Save and Stephen Moore - Assoc AIA, LEED AP BDC CPHC® for inviting AeroShield to participate in this event. There are billions (with a B!) of square feet of single pane and air-filled double pane windows in the US right now. Unfortunately, it can be challenging to retrofit large buildings. AeroShield was able to talk about how new federal incentives are driving more innovation in this space; both at AeroShield (to make glazing more efficient) and at companies solving the frame and air sealing problem for secondary window systems (INOVUES, Indow, Alpen High Performance Products and more). Looking forward to continuing the conversation about how new technologies can be used to decarbonize the built environment!
Please come join Steven Winter Associates, Rethinking Power Management and Built Environment Plus at Greentown Labs a week from today for the BE+ Carbon & Energy and Decarbonize Existing Buildings Alliance communities half-day symposium addressing knowledge gaps and obstacles in #decarbonization of large buildings. Topics include Preservation and Performance, #Carbon and (Building) Components, Funding High-Efficiency Retrofits, and more. The event will begin and end with networking time and include coffee, snacks, and lunch for attendees. https://lnkd.in/eQQkXGyf

Earth Day is a chance to celebrate the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation. On Monday, we held our 2nd AeroShield “Act Sustainably” Hackathon and took time as a team yesterday to brainstorm ways to support one of our most important stakeholders: the planet! AeroShield’s mission is to deliver innovative new materials to make our homes and lives more sustainable and comfortable, and Earth Day comes at a perfect time - we gearing up to move to a new pilot manufacturing facility and we have an opportunity to further improve our sustainability practices. Our team came together and brainstormed ideas, discussed potential impacts, and in less than 2 hours developed implementation plans that we can start this year to begin diverting hundreds of pounds of landfill waste, reduce our commuting emissions, and make our kitchen more sustainable as we grow our team. Which of our team's AeroShield Earth Day logos do you like best? If you are curious about how to set up your own internal sustainability hackathon we are happy to answer questions below!

AeroShield Materials had the honor of hosting State Representative Rob Consalvo, members of the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and representatives from the City of Boston at our facilities. The purpose of this visit was not just a meeting but a collaborative dialogue on how to attract and grow cleantech R&D and manufacturing across the state and city. Our team at AeroShield was thrilled to showcase our facility in Hyde Park and how converted manufacturing space can be used to accelerate climatetech solutions. We also got hands-on with some prototypes to demonstrate how our super-insulating windows are not just a concept but a tangible solution that can help the city and state meet building decarbonization goals! We believe that the path to a sustainable future is paved through collaboration and innovation. Together, we are not just envisioning a greener future but actively working towards it. AeroShield Materials is proud to be at the forefront of this change, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in cleantech. We are proud to be working in a state and city that have made it clear they want to reduce emissions and be a leader in climate innovation! If you know leaders in government, fenestration, construction, housing, and more who are interested in more energy-efficient solutions AeroShield is excited to explore how we can work together! #Cleantech #Sustainability #Innovation #Decarbonization #AeroShieldMaterials Aaron Baskerville-Bridges
