Our 6th Annual AeroStar Aviation Day Sponsored by Boeing and the BGE team was a HUGE success!! Thank you Bernice Billups, our Grant Liasion LaKendric G. Williams, MBA and a slew of Boeing volunteers. Big thanks to our host The Aviation Institute of Maintenance Chicago Campus led by Isaac Walters and Ben Clark! Thank you Dr. Joel English for your leadership and support. We had over 150 Chicago and Gary Indiana 5-12th graders engaged in hands-on aircraft maintenance activities. American Airlines mechanic Lawrence Waiters showed up to share career info and Team AeroStar showed up and rocked the hangar!!! ✈️✈️✈️ Congratulations to our 2024 Boeing Scholarship winner Joshua Carney who has been in AeroStars program since his freshman year. This 4-year AeroStar has selected Southern Illinois University, Carbondale to pursue Aviation!

We partnered with with Dr. Jarmese Sherrod to open the world of STEM and aviation to German student leaders visiting Chicago, IL USA with SheWill Legacy. Our Founder and CEO Tammera L. Holmes lead a session entitled STEMulate Your Career They had the most questions. Here are some of her favorites: What's the difference between good debt vs bad debt? What does it take to be successful? Is becoming a pilot hard? In addition to sharing her personal story, she walked through STEM careers and empowerment topics, as well as gave some great advice: The most important trait is Authencity- do not lose yourself. Learn how to be true to yourself. Tips on leading and not following Next is learning to plan for your future because time flies. She told them you don't have to plan out everything, but at least go in the direction of where you are headed. Each youth shared three things they will take from this Lunch and Learn and gave them to Dr. Sherrod and their top #1 is in a video in the comments. Thank you, Ms. Holmes and Dr. Sherrod an amazing time of sharing.
