Giant Food is thrilled to share that the Baltimore Orioles, in collaboration with the Maryland Food Bank, recently hosted their 37th annual Orioles Food & Funds Drive at Oriole Park at Camden Yards during the weekend series against the New York Yankees from July 12-14. Throughout the weekend, representatives from the Orioles, AAA, Giant Food, and the Maryland Food Bank were stationed at multiple entrances of the ballpark, collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations from fans and raised a total of $12,782.47 for the Maryland Food Bank! Giant Food remains dedicated to fighting hunger in Maryland by generously matching this donation by contributing an additional $25,000 to the cause! A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and to the organizations involved for their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. As the back-to-school season is here, the local brands of Ahold Delhaize USA are helping shoppers get back into the swing of things. In Boston, Stop & Shop is helping area college students celebrate move-in day. The brand will provide limited-edition oversized shopping bags at its Allston Yards and Mission Hill locations, free with purchases of $25 or more from Aug. 28 through Sept. 1. Both stores will also host a move-in day party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. When disaster strikes, we’re proud that our brands are quick to care for customers and communities. As Tropical Storm Debby headed toward the East Coast last week, threatening a large part of Food Lion's operating area, the brand quickly mobilized to support its communities – with the help of ADUSA Distribution & ADUSA Transportation. Providing support to American Red Cross and several county- and state-operated shelters, Food Lion Feeds delivered a truckload of 19 pallets of water and more than 12,000 units of Food Lion sandwich crackers and breakfast bars to individuals in areas impacted by the storm.
