Exactly 1 year ago, I asked ChatGPT to build the most profitable company possible with 1k USD and 1h/day. This sparked a rollercoaster ride that I'll share with my grandkids one day. It'll go something like this: "Kids, grab a seat. When grandpa was in his 30s, the world was very different: AI was just getting started. Apple was already popular - but we carried big rectangles outside our body! We didn't have Alfred robots cleaning up our homes. We still drove our own cars - and crashed all the time! Anyway, one day I challenged one of the first AI chatbots to build a company, just to test it for fun. I forget the company's name now...time flies. Anyway, when I told people I was going to do this, the internet went nuts! We got +5 million views in a single post. It took me months to go through all messages that poured in. We raised 100k EUR from investors all over the world and really created a company with a chatbot as a CEO! It might have been the world's first...I still don't know. But you know what the best part was? I got the chance to meet so many cool people: San Francisco I got an intro to Nuno Goncalves Pedro, who founded Chamaeleon to use AI to outperform other venture capital funds. We had a good talk and I eventually became their Head of Content! He's a philanthropist now - other funds took so long to catch-up that they were unbeatable for a whole decade. Cape Verde Your gramps got the chance to deliver a TEDx talk, thanks to Adilson Neves and Laisa Martins Rodrigues Vieira, who were super kind to show him around their beautiful country. New York City I went live with CBS News, thanks to Justin Sherman, who invited me to share my journey in a CBS documentary. You can still find it on YouTube's museum! Singapore I was blown away by Calvin Soh and his inspiring family, who welcomed me for lunch at the One Kind House. I still have his son's heart-warming book: The Little Red Dot. I could go on and on, but I know you kids want to go back to playing outside. I'll leave you with this: Back then I thought social media was terrible, but it turns out that it was never terrible at all. I just didn't know how to use it to make my life better." One year flew by again. What a crazy one it's been. Let's make this one count! Be kind to strangers, J

What a crazy year. What started as a fun experiment allowed me to meet more interesting people in just a few weeks than in all of 2022. Social media is a double-edged sword, but I couldn't be more thankful for this year's unexpected LinkedIn adventure. After months of waiting, I can finally share the TEDx talk that Adilson Neves was kind enough to invite me to give this Summer in Cape Verde. This journey gave me a different perspective into the impact that technological breakthroughs have not only in our lives, but also in our imagination. I shared a bit along those lines, plus how often everyone in tech tends to be wrong when predicting the future. I also got one of my facts wrong - can you spot which one? Link to the talk in the comments below. A big congrats to Adilson Neves, Laisa Martins Rodrigues Vieira, Wendy Ramos Monteiro and the entire TEDxMindelo team for putting together a wonderful group of people and inspiring Cape Verde's youth. And while we're at it, a big thank you to everyone that reached out this year with personal stories of how a crazy experiment and the slogan 'be kind to strangers' made their week a little better. You never know who reads what you post online, and you definitely don't know what they're going through. When in doubt, use your voice for good and you just might make someone's day. Be kind to strangers, J
