Director and CEO John Driscoll recently discussed the Port of Mobile's deepening and widening project with NBC 15. The project will deepen the Port of Mobile's lower harbor from 45 feet to 50 feet and widen a three-mile section of the harbor. This will allow for two-way traffic and enable larger vessels carrying more cargo to enter the channel. With three of seven phases already complete and two more underway, the project is on schedule to be completed by mid-2025. The American Journal of Transportation recently featured our deepening and widening project. With capital investments in both the channel and the terminal exceeding $1.5 billion, we are set to become the top container terminal in the Gulf of Mexico. This expansion will boost our annual throughput capacity to 1 million TEUs, aiming for 2.5 million TEUs upon full completion.
