It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Grossenbacher, the esteemed founder of Alamo City Performing Arts Association, at the age of 78. A dedicated advocate for the arts, Nancy served as an inspiration to the arts community, demonstrating unwavering passion for artistic expression. In addition to her role as the founder of Alamo City Performing Arts Association, she also established the Alamo City Dance Company and San Antonio School of the Performing Arts. Later in life Nancy wrote a children’s book called “The Butterfly Who Became A Cocoon”, a story about a butterfly who is on a journey to find a purpose in life. This story was made into a ballet that Alamo City Arts has had the privilege of presenting. In 2015, this amazing story was made into a musical. Nancy's influence extended far beyond her organizational endeavors. She left an indelible mark on numerous young individuals within the arts, many of whom have since pursued professional careers as artists, while others have become valuable contributors to society. Recognizing the profound impact of the arts on both performers and audience members alike, Nancy Grossenbacher's legacy remains a testament to the transformative power of artistic expression in enriching lives. Our condolences go out to the Grossenbacher family and the dance family that Nancy created in her years of nurturing and gift of arts and dance.
