MCCS works to align critical short-term, low-cost or no-cost workforce training to fill high-demand positions in Maine.

About us

The Maine Community College System has continuously demonstrated high quality training that is responsive to employers' needs. To address critical workforce development gaps, MCCS has looked beyond degree programs to offer critical short-term training to benefit employers, trainees, the economy, and Maine. The new Harold Alfond Center for the Advancement of Maine's Workforce is the collaborative way MCCS works. Partnering with employers, the State, private foundations, and trainees, the goal of The Center is to deploy $60 million in funding to train and upskill 24,000 Mainers by 2025. Made possible by the Harold Alfond Foundation, the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan, Maine Quality Centers, and a remote worker grant, The Center provides no-cost or low-cost training for high-demand jobs for numerous industries through Maine's community colleges and approved third-party trainers. Visit our website to see how you can become a Compact Member or receive a scholarship for training.
