Meet one of our new board members, Jennifer Galantowicz! 🥰 Jen has been involved with NAMI St. Louis since the beginning of 2024! 🫶 Jen's passion for NAMI St. Louis stems from a deeply personal place. Witnessing her own daughter (now 28) navigate the challenges of mental illness firsthand opened her eyes to the emotional rollercoaster families can experience. She wanted to be part of a supportive community that empowers individuals and families facing similar journeys 💚 Jen's tip for people interested in NAMI St. Louis is to join a committee! 💪 She believes it's a fantastic way to get involved with NAMI St. Louis and make a real difference. NAMI has a variety of committees focused on different areas, so you can find one that aligns with your interests (and your availability), and allows you to directly contribute to our mission 🙌 We are SO excited to have you on our board, Jen! 🤩

Today marks the anniversary of the 988 Hotline, where every call sparks a journey to brighter days 🌟 The 988 Hotline was established as part of the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act of 2020, which aimed to make mental health support more accessible and reduce the stigma around seeking help 🤩 The idea behind 988 is to provide a three-digit number similar to 911 for emergencies, specifically tailored to mental health crises. The hotline officially launched on July 16, 2022, offering 24/7 support to individuals experiencing mental health crises, suicidal thoughts, or emotional distress across the nation 🙌 Since the July 2022 launch, 988 has received and routed about 8.1 million calls, texts, and chats 💚 Join us in honoring this milestone and spreading awareness 🫂

Meet our new CIT Program Manager, Jacey Putnam! 🤩 Jacey worked with the Chesterfield Police Department for 17 years (while also getting her MSW 😱) before coming to NAMI St. Louis 💪 To Jacey, mental health means keeping yourself mentally, physically and emotionally healthy so you can help others 👏 She hopes to make an impact by passing on knowledge and resources to the law enforcement community so that officers can help individuals find resources, offer support, and understand those individuals with whom they come into contact with! We are so grateful to have Jacey on our team! 💚
