Say hello to Pebbles, our adorable and feisty July #PetOfTheMonth! Pebbles, a 3-year-old pup, loved carrying real pebbles around in her mouth as a puppy, which is quite fitting. As a cherished member of the Potter family (shoutout to Deirdre Potter), Pebbles delights in giving intense side-eyes to anyone in her domain and prefers lounging on pillows instead of her dog bed. Small but mighty, we adore her spirited personality! #teamambit #POTM

Today, we join the global community in recognizing International PKU Day, observed every year on June 28th. This day raises awareness about Phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare genetic disorder that affects the body's ability to break down an amino acid called phenylalanine, which is found in many protein-containing foods and some artificial sweeteners. To mitigate the risk of further health complications, it’s crucial that those living with PKU must be able to properly manage it. Our team is committed to advancing solutions for rare diseases like PKU. By increasing awareness and supporting research, we can improve the lives of those impacted and work towards a brighter future. Join us in spreading the word and showing support for the PKU community! #PKU #PKUawareness #PKUDay2024 #raredisease #rarediseaseawareness

Pharmaceutical companies have plenty of tools and strategies to help them find specialty and rare disease patients for trials and therapies. The problem isn’t a shortage of tools: It’s the way the tools operate. Most are set up to tackle the patient-finding problem through a too-narrow lens. Unfortunately, this can lead to a ‘when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail’ approach. If you express patient engagement as a set of numbers (e.g., email sign-ups), then engagement will be perceived as a metric that can improve only if that one number is higher than before. Visibility gets conflated with engagement, ignoring whether the outreach is supporting the right people or what actions they take as a result. In other words: Current solutions perform poorly and everybody knows it. Isn’t it time we radically changed the game? “Unraveling the contrasting perspectives of healthcare providers and caregivers highlights the intricacies of these conditions [Angelman syndrome & SYNGAP1]. Physicians prioritize clinical terms, while caregivers emphasize life-altering symptoms. This divide underscores the need for comprehensive symptom reporting, which will be a crucial step towards early suspicion and diagnosis in rare conditions." There's a clear divide between physician and caregiver-reported symptom frequencies for those living with #AS & #SYNGAP1. Read our blog post to learn more about the importance of symptom reporting in early diagnosis of rare conditions: https://hubs.li/Q02BW_xN0 #angelmansyndrome #syngap1 #childhoodseizuredisorders #raredisease

This coming Sunday, June 23rd, is recognized globally as International Dravet Syndrome Awareness Day! Together, we join the global community in raising awareness for this rare and severe form of epilepsy. Dravet Syndrome typically begins in the first year of life with frequent, prolonged seizures. Children with Dravet Syndrome face a higher risk of developmental delays, movement and balance issues, and other health challenges. At Ambit, we are committed to supporting advancements in research and patient care for rare diseases like Dravet Syndrome. Let's unite in spreading knowledge and understanding to drive progress and improve the lives of those affected. #internationaldravetsyndromeawarenessday #dravetsyndrome #childhoodseizuredisorders #dravetsyndromeawareness #raredisease

We're seeing two main types of patient-finding solutions for rare diseases, and frankly, neither is hitting the mark. On one end, we have the so-called "cookie cutter" solutions. These are quick to launch, which sounds great on paper. You get these tools up and running fast, and they promise to connect you with the right doctors to reach the right patients. Here’s the catch: They use a one-size-fits-all approach. What we end up with are broad, generalized methods that don't deliver the specific results we need for rare diseases. Plus, they're pretty opaque—most of the time, you don't know what data they're using or how they're working, which means you're left in the dark about how effective they are. And the biggest miss? There’s no feedback loop. You don’t get to find out if the connections made had any real impact or if the right patients were reached. Then there are the custom solutions, which are on the opposite end of the spectrum. Firms that offer these promise a tailored approach that includes the feedback mechanisms desperately needed for continuous improvement. But there's a significant drawback to these custom solutions—they take forever to develop. We're talking years to build and integrate. When you're dealing with rare diseases, time is something you don’t have the luxury to waste. So with these two solutions, we’re stuck between speedy but superficial tools and slow, in-depth solutions. What the industry needs is a middle ground—a solution that combines the speed of the "cookie cutter" models with the depth and adaptability of custom solutions. Hear what our Head of Digital Transformation, Ozgecan Uluscu, had to say and learn how we're filling the gaps: https://hubs.li/Q02BLcTH0 #patientfinding #raredisease #cookiecuttersolutions #customsolutions #biopharmasolutions #thesolutionishere
