About us
As members of AAPLOG, we affirm: 1) That we, as physicians, are responsible for the care and well being of both our pregnant woman patient and her unborn child. 2) That the unborn child is a human being from the time of fertilization. 3) That elective disruption/abortion of human life at any time from fertilization onward constitutes the willful destruction of an innocent human being, and that this procedure will have no place in our practice of the healing arts. 4) That we are committed to educate abortion-vulnerable patients, the general public, pregnancy center counselors, and our medical colleagues regarding the medical and psychological complications associated with induced abortion, as evidenced in the scientific literature. 5) That we are deeply concerned about the profound, adverse effects that elective abortion imposes, not just on the women, but also on the entire involved family, and on our society at large.

It's Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month! "Researchers believe that regular ovulation may increase ovarian cancer risk because it damages the lining of the ovaries so the ovary cells need to be repaired frequently. This can increase the chance for cancer-causing changes to occur." “There are a few ways to lower your ovarian cancer risk, but many women don’t know about them,” [Dr. Karen Lu, chair of Gynecologic Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center] says. “Basically, anything that stops ovulation for a time, like birth control pills, pregnancy or breastfeeding, can lower the average woman’s ovarian cancer risk.” From the University of Texas's MD Anderson Cancer Center. Opponents of abortion pill reversal (APR) have stated, "abortions can't be reversed", in order to imply that APR seeks to reverse an already-completed abortion. This is absurd because it would require, among other things, bringing an embryo or fetus back from the dead. In fact, APR seeks to reverse the abortive effects of the abortion drug mifepristone through natural progesterone, which counteracts the drug in order to *prevent* fetal or embryonic demise and thus *prevent* the abortion from being completed. This week is #FolicAcidAwarenessWeek! Did you know? Folic acid is a B-vitamin that's essential for proper cell growth in your preborn baby. Taking at least 400mg per day during and (if possible) prior to pregnancy can reduce the risk of neural tube defects (serious conditions such as spina bifida and anencephaly) in your baby by up to 70 percent. Folic acid is usually included in prenatal multivitamins. Learn more: https://buff.ly/4g7KJIP

Abortion advocates often attempt to downplay the reality of induced abortion by claiming that its only purpose is to end a pregnancy. But there are many medical interventions that end pregnancies, including all C-sections and inductions of labor. The distinguishing feature of induced abortion is that its intent is to not produce a live birth; in other words, it intends to produce a dead embryo or fetus.

We are asking for your help! The threats to the medical community have only heightened since the overturning of Roe, and medical students are particularly vulnerable. We do a lot at AAPLOG to encourage and defend them, including offering scholarships every year to our Matthew Bulfin Educational Conference (MBEC). Help us reach our goal of sending 100 medical students and residents to MBEC 2025 by giving today at buff.ly/45LAghe. Thank You!

The same outdated hypothesis that was used decades ago to deny infants' ability to feel pain is now being used by abortion advocates to deny preborn children's capacity for pain. Science has demonstrated that the brain does not need to be fully developed for an individual to experience pain. Many of the areas of the brain involved in the perception of pain are developed by 12 weeks' gestation. As early as 14-15 weeks' gestation, it is now standard practice to treat fetuses for pain during fetal surgery because they respond to skin-breaking procedures with the same changes in behavior, stress hormones, and metabolism as adults.
