The first phase of the American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM)'s transition to the new Continuing Certification Program (CCP) is in its final few months. Attest online to having a full and unrestricted medical license in the US or Canada. 2. Pay the annual fee through ABPM’s online Physician Portal. 3. Attest online to earning 20 CME credits annually. Six of these credits must be relevant to your ABPM certification(s). You decide for yourself which CME courses are relevant to your ABPM certification. The American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Tom Granatir as the Board’s incoming Public Member. Mr. Granatir has extensive experience in healthcare policy and public health. Before his retirement in 2023, he was the Senior Vice President of Health Policy and External Relations at the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). The American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM)'s Board of Directors honored departing Chair, Wendy E. Braund, MD, MPH, MSEd, FACPM, and Occupational and Environmental Medicine Vice Chair, Dr. Jeffrey Levin, last Friday during its Mid-Year Meeting in Chicago. There were a lot of laughs and some tears, but both Directors and Staff expressed their gratitude for the time and energy Drs. Braund and Levin have poured into the work of the Board. Both are exceptional advocates for board certification, their respective specialties, and Preventive Medicine as a whole. We are proud to have worked with them - and look forward to continuing to engage their talents to advance the cause of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Heather O'Hara-Rand has taken the reins as Chair of the Board; we are looking forward to continuing success under her capable leadership! In addition, the ABPM was pleased to welcome Dr. Pam Krahl and Dr. Michele Soltis as the incoming Occupational and Environmental Medicine Director and Public Health and General Preventive Medicine Director, respectively. Drs. Krahl and Soltis began their terms on the Board immediately upon the conclusion of the Board's Mid-Year Meeting.

Hearty congratulations to American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) Diplomate (and former Board member) Dr. Susan Northrup, whom the Flight Safety Foundation has awarded the 2024 Laura Tabor Barbour Air Safety Award! The award, named for a passenger on an airliner that crashed during an attempted landing in 1945, "recognizes notable achievement in the field of aviation safety - civil or military - in method, design, invention, study or other improvement." The award was first presented in 1956.
