About us

The American Board of Preventive Medicine (ABPM) was established in 1948 to promote the health and safety of the American people through our high standards in the certification and maintenance of certification in the profession of preventive health. The ABPM is a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) and a non-profit corporation; no member (officer or director) may receive any salary or compensation for services. Preventive Medicine is the specialty of medical practice that focuses on the health of individuals, communities, and defined populations.
