We are pleased to announce that ABS contributed to the development of the report “Safety of Ammonia for Use in Ships” published by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). This extensive study is part of a broader project, which includes reliability analysis and risk assessments of different types of ammonia-fueled vessel designs, culminating in developing guidance for ships using #ammonia as fuel. This first phase is important to understand the challenges inherent to ammonia, how it affects the ship and people on board, where the regulatory framework development stands and what gaps should be covered to contribute to adopting ammonia as a #marine fuel. ABS is proud to collaborate with EMSA on a series of studies on alternative fuels and #energy sources that will pave the way toward a safe and sustainable future.
