APHA applauds the decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals to keep an Environmental Protection Agency rule intact, a move that will protect Americans' health from further effects of climate change. The EPA rule would force many coal-fired power plants to significantly reduce carbon emissions within eight years. https://lnkd.in/eB44W6nG

The House Appropriations Committee approved the Fiscal Year 2025 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This bill would eliminate funding for Firearm Injury and Mortality Prevention Research at both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health. As part of a non-partisan group of national medical, public health, and research organizations dedicated to advancing the gun violence prevention research field, we are extremely disappointed to see the proposed elimination of funding for this firearm injury and mortality prevention research. https://lnkd.in/dmsW2_9Y
