In 2020, Victoria Seamon was 34 years old and working towards financial freedom with her partner. Her life changed when she found a lump in her breast and received a devastating diagnosis of Stage 3 breast cancer. During her treatment, she was introduced to Angel Foundation’s™ Financial Cancer Care program. She shared that her reason for participating in the program was because “cancer treatment is so expensive, it’s sometimes hard to not entirely focus on the financial aspect of it; you start to ask yourself questions like, do I pay for my treatment, or do I pay for my mortgage?” Together, Victoria and her Certified Financial Planner developed a financial roadmap to keep her on track. Angel Foundation™ extends a heartfelt congratulations to our corporate partner, Blue Cross, and Blue Shield of Minnesota, for being among seven insurers from across the country that publicly committed to the Cancer Moonshot goal of expanding access to care and treatment navigation services. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mark Steffen was a guest at the White House to take part in the conversation. “Cancer does not discriminate and affects nearly every person, either directly or indirectly, at some point in their lives,” Dr. Steffen added. “These types of conversations can bridge divides and help us focus on what is possible together, when everyone is united in the goal of ending cancer as we know it.” He shared information about the groundbreaking work Angel Foundation™ is doing to provide real solutions to address some of these barriers. We are grateful for invaluable partnerships with organizations like Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota in achieving this goal. #cancer #whitehouse #cancermoonshot #cancer
