About us
Born in 1970, Apparel Redefined was originally named Angie & Rich’s Custom Screening & Monogramming. It was a bonafide startup; Angie and Rich started the business working out of their garage. They made tees for the local rec, police, and fire departments. The disco era ushered in a fashion revolution. T-shirts went from dull undershirts to blank canvases for self-expression. Angie & Rich’s grew substantially thanks to this culture shift. In 1977 the company moved into a 3,500 sqft location in Bridgeview, IL. They built a screen printing production line, sewing and embroidery stations, and a front office. After more than three and a half decades successfully running Angie & Rich’s, the couple decided it was time to move on in 2006. The name was shortened to A&R Screening under new ownership. In 2006 apparel technology, trends, and fabrics were all changing. Cotton t-shirt demand fell sharply. Under Armor skyrocketed from zero by introducing high-performance dri-fit fabrics at scale. A&R recognized this shift early and carved out its niche in decorating athletic apparel. The company invested in new technology and developed processes that focused on quality and efficiency. After 11 years of excellent service, dedication, and passion the President of A&R Screening, Jo-Ellen Doranzo, retired in July 2017. Vice President John LaRoy stepped into the role. A&R achieved unprecedented growth, change, and focus the following 18 months. Consequently, the company sold its Bridgeview location and moved into a 22,000 sqft facility in Crestwood, IL in February ‘18. Management decided to rebrand the company to reflect this radical evolution. They wanted to pay homage to A&R’s roots but clearly show stakeholders this startup-minded company is on the cutting-edge of innovation in its industry. A&R morphed into AR. The initials were repurposed to stand for Apparel Redefined. Apparel Redefined launched in December 2018.

Branded Apparel Strategies with Fully Promoted Idaho Most businesses want to decorate their apparel or put their logo on it because they want to get noticed or they want to look professional. If you have a sales team and they're selling to prospects, you want them to be clearly identified that this person works for this company, and it looks really nice. But beyond that, what really has become apparent to me is, especially on the T-shirt side of the business, it makes you feel like you're a part of a team. So when everybody's matching, wearing the same gear, drinking out of the same matching water bottles, it makes you feel like you're part of something bigger. And so we started approaching how we do business with that attitude. Why is Apparel Redefined Excited to Partner with ROQ US? It's a whole new world in terms of experience right now. We've talked a little bit on a couple of other podcasts about the American economy, it went from a product economy to a service economy to an experience economy. ROQ is all three of those. You have the products, you have the service, and you have the experience. We go on events, tours, trade shows, and other types of events. There's business to be done. But then there's also the relationship building. Our industry, as big as it is–everyone's got T-shirts and everyone's got decorated apparel, polos, hats, what have you—is still relatively small in terms of the number of people who are doing it very well and take pride in it. The best business advice from Ross Hunter, President of ROQ US. The biggest thing is to trust yourself and don't be afraid. It sounds very basic, but I think there's a lot of great ideas out there that live inside people. And there's a reason that only less than 5% of people own businesses, something like that, right? I don't know what the exact statistic is. And just don't be afraid. It's okay to fail forward. So I'll just keep going with what I'm saying right now. But learn from your mistakes. I think a lot of people give up too soon on themselves. And there's always support out there. There's always education. It's not that scary. We're just people. And I think that that's always interesting to me. I'm just someone who took a risk and I believed in myself and that's what got me to where I'm at today. So take the risk, believe in yourself, and don't be afraid of failure. What are branded apparel solutions for summer corporate events? These are for theme park visits, retreats, and wellness events. It’s great to be outside, especially in the north. We celebrate our short 3 1/2-month window very well. We get a lot done in three months. There are distilleries all up and down the Lake Michigan corridor. They're all fighting for exposure. You leave with the taste of their beer, but they really want you to leave wearing a T-shirt because that's going to get you and their brand more recognition. If it's an internal event spend the extra couple dollars on a premium T-shirt. You want your people to be proud and comfortable with what they're wearing and then continue to wear because it's advertising, free advertising for your company. We have branded apparel solutions for summertime non-profit events. You could have like a new park dedication; you could have some type of event around summer holidays or you see a lot of outdoor concerts and those types of events. You have multiple parties involved or even sponsors. You see a lot of summer T-shirts with sponsorships on the back. There's a lot of coordination with whoever's involved. Typically, you see anywhere from 15 to 20 sponsors, that's 15 to 20 different logos. People don't just want the company name. People invest a lot of time in their brand. What is their brand? The logo. If they're supporting something, they want their brand conveyed the way it should be done, which is the logo. Getting access to those files that are print ready, or if they're not print ready, having our graphics team dive in and making those files print ready. It's about safety. OSHA comes in and they require high vis. It's not only something that should be top of mind and not be a last-minute decision, it's actually required. Now you have different certifications with sleeve markings and tapings and body tapings. And we just try to make it as plug and play as possible. Like what is what do you need? Is it purely high vis? What sizes do you need? You really do see an inventory crunch on the high vis stuff right now because it's stable across the United States in terms of inventory and supply. After fall because the Midwest kind of and North essentially just kind of stops. But now you have the entire United States competing for some inventory. You do see a little bit of a crunch. It is important to get that stuff especially in your extended sizes out to your team.
