A new for-profit model for putting basic science into forefront using Biology and Technology. Have been following the space of Arcadia Science for a while, seems promising but somehow missed this podcast from one of the co-founder Seemay Chou . Enjoyed it thoroughly. 😃 In case anyone is interested to get some insight into scientific entrepreneurship, do give a listen to this. Many exciting science happening in this organization and lots to follow in near future.

It feels to me like we're reaching an inflection point for scientific discovery. Open source initiatives combined with AI/ML will unlock massive potential energy. I'm inspired by scientists who openly share their data and findings. Prachee Avasthi is one of those people. I recently had the chance to interview her onsite at Arcadia Science (btw each of their conference rooms has a different non-model organism as wallpaper and it's awesome). She's been advocating for radical scientific transparency and is conducting a massive metascience experiment at Arcadia and Astera Institute. Check out our conversation in episode 86. I’m #hiring. We've converted our open editor role into a three-month internship for up-and-coming folks who want to grow their editing skills and get creative with open publishing. I welcome all sorts of backgrounds, but it's a particularly great opportunity for biologists to transition into a communication/industry career path! Know anyone who might be interested?

We're excited about the different experiments organizations are running to find sustainable, efficient models for accelerating research to impact. Hear from us as well as the very cool folks over at Speculative Technologies and Homeworld Collective on what we're trying out, what's working, and what's not! Thanks for putting this together Federation of American Scientists 🔬
Of all the organizations thinking creatively about the future of scientific research, Arcadia Science, Speculative Technologies, and Homeworld Collective are three of the most exciting. So I'm thrilled that this Thursday, Nucleate Dojo and the Federation of American Scientists will be hosting a webinar where early career researchers across the biosciences can hear from leaders of these organizations — Seemay Chou, Jessica Alfoldi, & Daniel Goodwin — about how they're experimenting with new research models, institutional designs, and funding mechanisms. This (virtual) event is targeted towards undergraduate and graduate-level scientists passionate about biotech & life sciences, but is open (and relevant) to anyone interested in hearing about the frontiers of bioscience. Register at the link below, and feel free to share widely!
