Check out Prof. Dr. med. Peter Habermeyer’s case study of his 39-year-old patient who has benefited from our Eclipse™ Total Shoulder System for over 19 years after suffering from Post-Traumatic Humeral Head Necrosis. #Arthrex #MedicalEducation #Innovation #Arthroplasty
19 Years of Revision-Free Eclipse Hemiarthroplasty for Post-Traumatic Humeral Head Necrosis in a 39-Year-Old Patient In the literature, poor results are often reported in patients under 50 years of age with hemiarthroplasty. However, in cases of post-traumatic avascular necrosis of the humeral head in young patients, the glenoid usually remains intact. Despite this, due to their young age, revision surgery is often expected in the future. Therefore, it's essential to preserve the glenoid socket while also ensuring a simple prosthesis change is possible by implanting a stemless humeral head prosthesis. The case of a 39-year-old female patient with head necrosis following intramedullary nail osteosynthesis demonstrates a complication-free course over 19 years. The patient reported only a restriction of movement beyond 120° anteversion and 90° abduction. The anticipated revision at >60 years allows for a sufficiently long durability for a reverse shoulder prosthesis. #Eclipse #Stemless #Prosthesis #Arthrex #Atos #SchulterSportTrauma #Habermeyer #Sandmann
