Today (8/2) is the last day to purchase tickets for our ArtDinner on Monday, August 5 at The Aperture! In addition to an exquisite culinary experience with Chef and Owner Jordan Anthony Brown, a highlight of the evening will be intimate talks with acclaimed artists Kathryne Gardette and Charles Gaines. Get to know them before you attend: Renowned conceptual artist Charles Gaines envisioned ArtWorks’ new ArtPark mural, “Numbers and Trees: Cincinnati Cottonwoods” as part of his tree series that explores nature and politics through systems and processes. The mural is nearly complete and sits across the street from ArtWorks new headquarters. Kathryne Gardette is a positive broker: artistic – logistic – civic. She’s the current Walnut Hills Business Group president, an ArtWorks Board Member, and designer of the ArtWorks’ Gilbert Avenue Gateway Mural, featuring West African Adinkra symbols to celebrate the diverse and collaborative neighborhood that is Walnut Hills. The ball is in ArtWorks’ court to bring a new mural to life in celebration of the Cincinnati Open and its 125 years of tennis history. Located on the north-facing wall at 838 Reedy Street in downtown Cincinnati, the mural features a thrilling tennis match in action on Center Court at the Cincinnati Open. Viewers take on a fan’s perspective of the court, where the intensity of the game matches the vibrant atmosphere of the newly renovated stadium. Designed by award-winning Illustrator and Print Artist Alison Seiffer, the mural is being created by 16 Apprentices (ages 14–21) and Teaching Artists Sophie Shiff, Tevin Brown, and Dani Pflum. Seiffer, based in Montauk, New York, has had her illustrations appear in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Popular Science, Consumer Reports and The Wall Street Journal. The mural will be completed in mid-August and a dedication will be held following the completion of the Cincinnati Open, which takes place Aug. 11–19.
