More and more major corporations are making the move to Texas, lured to the state by lower taxes and housing costs and a friendlier vibe. Texas investment-banking and securities employment has increased 111% over the past 20 years and 27% since the pandemic, compared with 16% and 5%, respectively, in New York. Ashford Securities LLC and several of our valued distribution partners visited the construction site in January 2023, when the beautiful rooftop Annex bar was just a dream.   The historic 188-room hotel is managed by Remington Hospitality and will be open to the public on Thursday (just in time for TCU football)! Premier Project Management spearheaded the redevelopment, enhancing and revitalizing a mid-century modern property. The project thoughtfully preserved its original charm while introducing a stunning rooftop bar, a restaurant, a resort-style pool, and modernized meeting spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology and flexible layouts for customizable event planning.  JLL's Hotels & Hospitality Group released their H1 2024 U.S. Hotel Investment Trends report highlighting the state of the lodging industry. Some of the key trends captured in the report include an analysis of the hotel transaction market and an outlook for the rest of 2024. 

Slow supply growth is expected to fuel average daily rates (ADR) in many global hotel markets, according to JLL. Hotel construction cost pressures, labor, and development financing remain a challenge and JLL doesn’t expect global supply growth to materially accelerate until 2029/2030. Boosted by pent-up demand and recovery momentum, business travel spending by U.S. companies is expected to grow between 8% and 12%, according to a report released by Deloitte. Events-based travel is a rapidly expanding category expected to bring in a tidal wave of business this summer. Concerts, festivals, and events have changed how people travel, especially among younger generations. And the hospitality sector is taking notice and finding innovative ways to cater to these travelers. A recent study has revealed a surging trend of live event travel with approximately three in five Gen Z (65%) and millennial (58%) respondents confirming they have traveled (within the last year) or plan to travel (within the next 12 months) more than 50 miles to attend in-person events. The younger generations are willing to go the extra mile and spend more on these experiences. Between the UEFA EURO 2024 Championship in Germany, CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 in the U.S., the 2004 Summer Olympics in Paris, and Las Vegas concerts at the Sphere, there are plenty of reasons to travel this summer.
