This aluminium-and-glass building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2000, was the result of a design competition. Situated in adjacent to the Fidelity Building, which dates back to the1890s. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a pivotal figure in 20th-century architecture, pioneered a lasting architectural style characterized by minimalist intersecting plane his approach in the 1920s integrated functionalist industrial principles with a strong aesthetic vision. One Charles Center has been honoured with the First Honor Award by the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
