    Most guys over 40 are not sport-specific athletes. That's why it's important, at this stage of life, to train for a more broad, general fitness. This way you can live your life in a body that is prepared for ANY and ALL of the activities and adventures that you are confronted with. Admittedly, this type of programming can be challenging and it's why we need frameworks around what it means to be fit.     How do you know what the ideal fitness program should look like? Most people workout for aesthetic reasons... Believing that a great workout is when you sweat a lot or "feel a burn" in the muscle you're targeting. And that's why the bodybuilding world has such a stronghold on the world of fitness. But for guys over 40, there is a much better approach. See what I mean in this video.

    If your gym has more seats than places to stand...it's a problem. Think about it... Should you really go to the gym and SIT when you likely sit most of your day already? Hell no... And if you already carve out the time for formal exercise, then shouldn't you be doing things that deliver the best results in the time you've got? This pic is from the very first gym I owned circa 2007. After spending $350,000 on equipment that I KNEW wouldn't change lives (dumb mistake), I ended up selling it and subsequently opened another gym that had NO SEATS. That's where I really started changing lives. And eventually where I'd go on to develop some of the fittest, strongest, most powerful humans on the planet. Don't fall into the trap. There is a better way.

    When you focus your efforts on performance, your bodyfat will normalize at its most healthful place. Problem is…too many guys are chasing bodyfat goals rather than performance goals. Flip the script!!! High Performance = Healthy
