Class is in session, and Atrium Health Levine Children’s is thrilled to celebrate the third year of its School-Based Virtual Care program in the Peach County Schools! Since the program’s inception in the Peach County Schools we have had a total of 1,030 patient visits! To further celebrate the impact of this program, Atrium Health Navicent Healthy Communities teammates hosted physicians and staff from the Atrium Health Levine Children’s Virtual Care team. Atrium Health Navicent Peach is thankful to SunMark Community Bank for its support through the Georgia HEART Hospital Program, allocating of $50,000 of the bank’s tax liability to benefit the hospital! A year ago, Atrium Health Navicent began to offer on-campus health services to students at Central Georgia Technical College and Fort Valley State University. Since then, Atrium Health Navicent Campus Health Clinics have completed 1,370 CGTC visits and 1,680 visits at FVSU.  As a result, these students have been able to receive care close to where they live and study, making it easier for them to live healthier! Macon Bacon players weren’t the only ones stepping up to go for a strikeout this summer! Last month, the Bacon held Strike Out Cancer Night with proceeds from a jersey auction benefiting mobile mammography offerings through Atrium Health Navicent Peyton Anderson Cancer Center! Research shows that babies who are breastfed have a lower risk of ear infections and respiratory illnesses, and a decreased risk of developing illnesses later in life such as childhood obesity, high cholesterol, allergies, diabetes and childhood cancers. Here’s how Atrium Health Navicent supports mothers who are breastfeeding: Through the Breastfeeding Basics class, a registered nurse teaches tips and techniques to help mothers have a positive, successful breastfeeding journey. Breastfeeding mothers at the Atrium Health Navicent Family Birth Centers, both in Macon and Milledgeville, receive a visit from lactation specialists, providing mothers with basic breastfeeding information, answering questions and assistance in getting baby to the breast if needed. Atrium Health Navicent offers a "warmline" to take calls or concerns about breastfeeding such as the use of medications while breastfeeding, pumping for return to work, milk supply issues and infant feeding problems.
