Matt Kuffler, PE, Austin Energy Power System Engineer Sr., is seen here leading the tour, explaining power plant operations and answering questions from the group. With triple-digit heat or heat indexes in the forecast, Austin Energy’s power generation and transmission facilities have completed their weatherization readiness activities in preparation for the summer season. Austin Energy certified its summer weather preparedness to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) in compliance with state regulations. The utility completes and maintains annual summer and winter season emergency preparation measures for its generation units and transmission substations. Today our Critical Infrastructure Division regional directors toured an Austin Energy facility for more insight on the inner workings of a power plant during weather emergencies. Partnering with Meals on Wheels Central Texas, we provide essential nourishment and safety checks to those in need, fostering unity and purpose among volunteers.
