About us

These individuals are recognized in categories including: Architecture, Engineering and Construction; Arts and Entertainment; Civics, Government, and Public Affairs; Culinary Arts, Events, and Hospitality; Energy, Mobility and Transportation; Financial and Insurance Services; Innovation and Start up; Journalism, Marketing, and Public Relations; Legal; Medicine and Healthcare; Nonprofit Service; Real Estate; Sports, Wellness, and Fitness; Technology; Youth and Education; Mentor of the Year. The awards gala serves not only to commend individuals for their leadership and achievements, but more importantly, to raise money for Austin Sunshine Camps.

In 1998, as a board member of the Young Women's Alliance, Kerri Qunell played a key role in launching the very first Austin Under 40 Awards. Fast forward to 2006, Kerri herself became a winner in the "Community Service & Non-Profit" category. Today, Kerri continues to make an impact as the Director of Marketing and Communications at The Texas Tribune. She's still at the helm of major events, including their flagship Texas Tribune Festival. This year’s festival is set for September 5-7 in downtown Austin. Still need tickets? Commercial Real Estate / Construction Insurance Advisor - Co-Chair, 2024 Austin Under 40 Awards

When I first became the Co-chair of this event, I was scared... Being a young professional and having the honor of interacting with successful entrepreneurs, influential figures, Mayor Watson, and the CEO of ASC, filled me with excitement, but it also gave me a reverence for the weight of the responsibility I needed to uphold. I gave myself a mantra: "I don't know exactly what to do, but if I work hard, and ask the right questions, have faith, I know that I will achieve my goals". 10 months of planning went into this night. After 10 months, I am elated to announce that this year was a resounding success! I am so proud of each of my AU40 teammates. We raised +$67,000 for the Austin Sunshine camps, which means we can send over 44 deserving kids to a two-week-long summer camp this year! We also had the privilege of recognizing 85 amazing finalists, and 17 award winners. I encourage you to check out their stories. These individuals are the reason Austin has such a bright future.
