The 340B ACCESS Act, introduced yesterday in the U.S. House, offers a solution for enabling the 340B Drug Pricing Program (340B program) to aid underserved communities by improving access to affordable medications and healthcare services. If passed, the 340B ACCESS Act will ensure that the program effectively lowers drug costs for the patients in greatest need. The Autoimmune Association supports this legislation, as it prioritizes the patients the 340B program was meant to help and safeguards its long-term availability. In a win for patients, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is retracting a proposal that would alter drugmakers' Medicaid "best price" calculation. The Autoimmune Association and other 31 patients organizations recently alerted CMS to our concerns about the detrimental effects this could have on patients' ability to access necessary treatments.
