Fifty-five-year-old Dean Lampe is "just a regular guy off the couch" who is training for the Leadville Trail 100 bike race this summer in Colorado. One thing on his training to-do list can now be marked done: complete the Aviv Medical Program. I'm excited to share that our latest study has just been published. This research is part of our ongoing program focused on Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). FMS is a central sensitization syndrome, where generalized pain is caused by the brain's misinterpretation of signals from the body. It can be triggered by factors such as mechanical/traumatic brain injury (TBI), certain infections, and severe emotional stress. Our recent study specifically examined FMS related to childhood sexual abuse. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) or the current recommended medications. The results showed that HBOT provided superior benefits over medications, leading to significant physical, functional, and emotional improvements. Additionally, clinical improvements were linked to increased activity in the prefrontal and temporal brain regions, underscoring the neuroplasticity effects of HBOT. https://lnkd.in/dBHXiRDr
