BGE is enhancing electric reliability by using drones with LiDAR sensors to map vegetation around transmission assets. This 3D data helps plan precise trimming schedules, improving system performance. The drone inspections reduce emissions, enhance safety, lower costs, and minimize noise compared to manned aircraft.

BGE, Sunrun, and Ford Motor Company have partnered to launch the nation’s first program that enables electric vehicle owners to power their home from their vehicle’s battery in parallel with the electric grid. Using customers’ Ford F-150 Lightning trucks with Sunrun Home Integration Systems, the vehicle-to-home pilot initiative targets BGE electric system peak hours, discharging the EV truck’s battery to reduce peak energy use, reduce air pollution, and lower electricity costs for customers who participate. http://spr.ly/6044ch7JM
