The final piece of teak on Battleship New Jersey’s main deck was laid earlier today! A huge thank you to Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters and International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 21 for their continued hard work on this project. The restoration continues!

For just over one month now, Battleship New Jersey has been back and open for tours! Let's take a look back on her 78 days in dry dock. This maintenance allows her to continue on as a floating museum where we exhibit the incredible history of this legendary ship and educate visitors about the thousands who served onboard. Your support has helped make this all possible! #DryDockNJ

Today we welcomed Master Chief Calhoun and crew of the USS NEW JERSEY (SSN-796) for a tour including our exhibit highlighting the soon-to-be-commissioned submarine. Battleship New Jersey will share their history, but the USS NEW JERSEY (SSN-796) will share our legacy! We look forward to the commissioning in September. #FirepowerForFreedom USS New Jersey (SSN 796) Commissioning Committee

While in dry dock, we applied a new system of coatings to approximately 125,000 square feet of underwater hull! We worked with the team at Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings who provided us with 18 tons of anti-corrosive coatings that is designed to last 30 years until the next time Battleship New Jersey is dry docked. Check out the video below for more!
The Battleship New Jersey Museum & Memorial, a retired World War II Navy warship that now serves as a museum, is back up and running after a restoration dry dock period! We were very honored to be able to provide 18 tons of our anti-corrosive and antifoulant coatings to the ship to preserve and protect the vessel from marine life growth. Soria-Pérez, and Board of Trustee members Pat Jones, Steve Sheehan, Joe Benton, Tom Riley, Robert Del Sordo and Ted Gallagher. Board Trustee Capt. We were proud to once again host this event with USCIS. It makes celebrating Independence Day extra special for Battleship New Jersey. Congratulations to all 42 #NewUScitizens including 8 active service members!
USCIS #IndependenceDay celebrations kicked into high gear onboard the “Big J” on July 4. We welcomed 42 #NewUSCitizens, including 8 Department of Defense #ServiceMembers from the US Army, U.S. Army Reserve and Army National Guard, NJ National Guard, United States Air Force and U.S. Coast Guard naturalized onboard Battleship New Jersey Museum & Memorial – the most-decorated battleship in US Navy history. It was a fitting celebration of the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, overlooking the skyline of Philadelphia – where the declaration was written 248 years ago.

Our dry dock project may be complete, but that was only the beginning! The restoration of our teak deck continued while the ship was in dry dock. This 43,000 square foot project is just one of our ongoing efforts that help us to continue the history and legacy of the world’s greatest battleship! 📸 Rachel Wisniewski

“It doesn’t get any better than this.” We were incredibly honored to have VADM Douglas J. Katz and his wife Sharon aboard during the Battleship’s journey from dry dock on June 14. He served as the commanding officer from August 1987 to May 1989 and this time around made the call to shift colors as the ship was underway. 📸: Rachel Wisniewski
