Securing the safety of the Bergen County community is the main mission of #BCPONJ, but this security planning is not always visible to the public eye. For example, preparations for hosting international sporting events in our area are underway, and funding proposed by Congressman Josh Gottheimer will address the danger of undetectable guns and ghost guns.

#BCPONJ’s Chief Assistant Prosecutor Ron McCormick is deeply honored to be awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Bergen County Bar Association. #BCPONJ has kicked off its summer internship program. College and law school interns will be working alongside assistant prosecutors, detectives, and support staff, gaining knowledge of the different career paths the BCPO has to offer. We are excited to see what contributions our interns bring to the office each week.

On National Fentanyl Awareness Day, #BCPONJ wishes to stress the real dangers of the prevalence of fentanyl here in Bergen County. Prosecutor Musella continues to warn community members (from high school students to senior citizens) to be suspicious of any drug not received from a pharmacy. We are grateful for the work of partners such as the Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources that connects those struggling with addiction and their families with life-saving support services, along with the Black Poster Project which honors the lives lost due to addiction and overdoses. If you or someone you know needs help, the Addiction Support Hotline is available 24/7 at 201-589-2976.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is pleased to welcome our new Assistant Prosecutors Caitlin Kenny and Jessica Yannette. Both were recently sworn in by Prosecutor Musella, each with her mentor by her side, and will be serving as team members in #BCPONJ’s Grand Jury and Intake Units.

YWCA Northern New Jersey HealingSPACE’s 30th Annual Clothesline Project displayed over 2,000 shirts designed by sexual violence survivors. Prosecutor Musella commends this powerful display of support, which reminds us that it is our collective responsibility to look up and speak up against sexual violence, domestic violence, and child abuse.
