The Center for Economic Opportunity & Belonging bridges Utah’s communities to foster belonging in several key areas.
About us
The Center for Economic Opportunity and Belonging bridges Utah’s communities to foster belonging where it matters most: our education, workforce, housing, and health. By aligning strategic decisions with community wisdom, we are building a Utah where every one of us can contribute our whole selves. Where every student receives a first-rate education. Where every professional can reach a fulfilling career. Where every family can find a dignified place to live. Where every person can get the healthcare they need to thrive. Where every one of our successes expands our collective potential – because each of us belongs. Bridges create belonging. Let’s build them together.

This past week, the Center and the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs hosted the July Young Professionals Networking Social Hour. Our group was joined by Brooke Scheffler Director of Utah Office of Boards & Commissions, and Shawn Newell, an experienced leader on various boards and appointments, to talk about civic engagement opportunities through boards and commissions. This pathway to civic engagement is typically untapped for young leaders. Thank you to both Brooke and Shawn who illuminated how to engage in this way and made the process approachable for our Young Professionals. Thank you to the Young Professionals who attended this month’s social! We look forward to continuing to build our community and learn new skills along the way. Staying engaged as a young leader is vital in this rapidly changing world and we have the opportunity to bridge with others as we work towards a future where everyone belongs. If you are a young professional that is interested in joining these networking and bridge-building opportunities, please email Bailey Rivera-Wymes ([email protected]) or Claudia Loayza([email protected]). #belonginutah

BelongInUtah reposted this
The Center for Economic Opportunity and Belonging BelongInUtah and I are honored to be featured in the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Every Child Thrives publication. In 2018, I was incredibly fortunate to be selected for a fellowship at the WKKF Community Leadership Network (CLN) with the Center for Creative Leadership (https://wkkfcln.org/). The Foundation’s investment in a little-known mid-level professional from Salt Lake City, Utah, has had a profound impact on my personal/ professional journey and, more importantly, on our community. Thank you for supporting and highlighting our work in Utah.
