We’re incredibly proud to have been present for the press conference celebrating a big win for Allentown! Allentown has been awarded a $20 million Implementation Grant from the US Economic Development Administration to fully fund their Recompete Plan! Allentown is one of only six cities in the US to receive this grant. The funds will be used to further the goal of creating good-paying, high-quality jobs and improving workforce access. At the Boys & Girls Club of Allentown, we’re committed to supporting this vision by offering our members top-notch career exploration and the tools they need to pursue their career dreams. Here’s to a future filled with opportunities and success for our community!

What an impactful, exciting day for #BGCAllentown! We were honored to welcome community partners and elected officials, led Lt. Governor Austin Davis, to celebrate the funding of the BOOST Program! BOOST, which stands for Building Opportunity through Out-of-School Time, provides an $11.5M state-wide investment into creating safer communities by increasing access to before- and after-school programming. We are so grateful to everyone who passionately advocated for BOOST. This funding will make a huge difference in the lives of Pennsylvania’s youth! Our #BGCAllentown Turner Street Club members had an afternoon full of fun and education at the Da Vinci Science Center today! We learned about dinosaurs, the ocean, the human body, and even some engineering! Some of the members' favorite exhibits included, but not limited to, were: The mechanical advantage machines, the Tesla coil, and of course… the dinosaur park!

We cherish the memory of Gary M. Martell. Over 42 years, he poured his heart into serving the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem, leaving a lasting impact. His presence will be greatly missed. Last week, our Turner Street kids had a great experience at Lake Tobias Wildlife Park! They got to see and meet so many new animals, and enjoy a thrilling Safari Tour! Summer is a great time to offer our kids the experience of a lifetime, as these memories will stick with them forever! Field trips provide a mental health break with some much needed time away from daily stress.

Happy July! Today, #BGCAllentown's Sixth Street Clubhouse learned about shadows and lighting today in the art room. The kids got to pick out an animal and cast a light over them to see how changes in the light, affect the shape of a shadow. Everyone then traced over the shadows to showcase their creativity and design their own iterations of their favorite animals!
