It’s Boys & Girls Club week and we are celebrating how young people level up everyday through our activities, programs, and dedicated staff! One way we level up for the future is facilitating high-quality programs that include STEM. STEM enables our Club members to discover exciting career paths in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. Robotics (pictured) is a favorite. #BGCWeek #GreatFuturesStartHere

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County one of our priorities is ensuring academic success for all Club members. That’s why we chose to partner with the #GoBeyondGrades campaign to equip families with the resources they need to support their child academically. Our CEO and President, Daphne Barlow Stigliano, MPH, CPH, shared her personal story of advocating for her daughter and how it made a huge difference. As part of our cultural and community awareness, a group of teens visited Opal’s Farm in Fort Worth. Opal Lee, known as the Grandmother of Juneteenth, had a dream of an urban farm to provide fresh, nutritious food for residents while also addressing local food deserts and alleviating food insecurity through local food production and education. Our teens had the opportunity to tour the farm and learn how it will create jobs, provide job training, and bring a spirit of entrepreneurship and self-reliance to the area. What a gift to the Fort Worth community! Opal Lee

All Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County locations will be closed tomorrow, June 19th, in observance of Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates the day Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, TX in 1865 with the good news of the emancipation of enslaved peoples, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was enacted. As a federal holiday, Juneteenth highlights the importance of this date and is a celebration of freedom, resilience, community and the possibilities of good things to come. We will resume normal business operations on Thursday, June 20th.
