Last week, City Council passed a bill enabling automated speed cameras on the entire length of Route 611/Broad Street. We applaud the swift work done by the office of Transportation and Infrastructure Systems, Philadelphia Parking Authority, PennDOT, Mayor Parker, Council Member Squilla and all of City Council who passed this legislation unanimously. The goal of this legislation is not to raise revenue but to change driver behavior. We look forward to seeing this technology save lives on more dangerous roads throughout Philadelphia. #VisionZeroPHL #VisionZero https://lnkd.in/e8gyX5ma

Nothing says summer like riding a bike with your friends. Kids at Be a Gem Crossing did just that last Friday after the bell rang on the last day of school. Through our growing partnership with North10, Philadelphia, over 30 kids and adults got to ride bikes at the Be a Gem Crossing Family Bike Day in just 2 hours! https://lnkd.in/gZRyW8HM

Our office is closed for the remainder of today and all day tomorrow in celebration of Juneteenth. This national holiday is a time to learn about the history of liberation in the U.S. and also serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for racial equity and justice, including within our transportation system. Our friends Safe Routes Partnership have created a "Taking on Traffic Laws" decriminalization guide which offers advocates strategies to repeal racially enforced traffic laws -- https://bit.ly/4cnlQWP. In honor of Juneteenth, let us continue actively working towards mobility justice and help create safer, more just communities for everyone.
