Earlier this year, we supported the creation of healthcare-focused high schools to prepare students for in-demand jobs by pairing public education systems and hospitals in 10 communities. Schools representing partnerships between Atrium Health & Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte and Memorial Hermann Health System & Aldine ISD in Houston just welcomed their inaugural cohorts - offering specialized classes, work-based learning, industry-recognized credentials, and more to strengthen the talent pipeline for local hospitals: https://lnkd.in/gpwE2Hgy

In 2024, half the world will be living in places holding elections. Most of those people live in cities—where the consequences will play out. As they do, mayors worldwide are drawing inspiration from the urban policies that catapulted former Gobierno de la Ciudad de México mayor Claudia Sheinbaum to the presidency. Against this backdrop, Bloomberg CityLab 2024 will convene 500+ mayors, policymakers, innovators, and creatives in CDMX this October to explore the solutions shaped by city halls that are poised to reshape nations. See the latest on #CityLabCDMX, speakers including Mayor-Elect Clara Brugada, Mayor Cruz Perez Cuellar, Cherelle Parker, Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mike Johnston, David Holt, José Antonio Peña Merino, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, Elsa y Elmar, Lesley Lokko, Fernanda Canales, and more, hosted in partnership with the The Aspen Institute: https://lnkd.in/gHu4MNdF

Congratulations to all our 2024 Bloomberg Arts Interns! Last week, interns based in New York City gathered together to mark the end of this year’s program and to discuss their favorite moments from the summer. Since 2017, the Bloomberg Arts Internship has supported more than 1,700 paid internships for high school students at cultural institutions across the country. With the expansion of the program to Detroit and New Orleans, this year was our largest program yet. From museums to music conservatories to glass blowing studios, over 350 students based in seven U.S. cities interned at a wide range of institutions where they developed skills to prepare them for success both in the classroom and in the workforce. The Johns Hopkins University welcomed the third cohort of the Vivien Thomas Scholars Initiative last week. The program, supported by our Greenwood Initiative, creates pathways for exceptional students from historically Black colleges and universities and minority-serving institutions to pursue PhDs in STEM fields at Johns Hopkins. 🔬 From immunology to neuroscience, mechanical engineering to psychological and brain sciences, these students will become leaders in their fields - and we can't wait to see what they accomplish! https://lnkd.in/en2cNGhM

When the last bell of the school year rings, many students risk falling behind in crucial subjects during summer break. At East Harlem DREAM Charter School, Summer Boost has made a world of difference. The intensive learning initiative for rising first through ninth grade public charter school students aims to accelerate academic progress in English Language Arts and math, while providing them with enrichment opportunities. In other words, Summer Boost earns an A+ for bridging learning gaps - learn more: https://lnkd.in/eRN58xsh
