Hola (as I'm still practicing my Spanish..😅) Let's talk about RNNs... You've probably heard that artificial neural networks mimics certain aspects of the human brain, particularly in how they process information and learn from data. That's true. Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are a specialized type of artificial neural networks designed to handle sequential data, such as text, speech and time series. Now here is something unique about RNNs: Unlike traditional neural networks, which process inputs at one go without considering previous inputs, RNNs have a hidden state that acts like a "memory," allowing them to remember information from the past. Also, at the core of every RNN is a recurrent unit that updates its hidden state at each step of the way. The hidden state (a.k.a., memory) captures information about previous inputs and is updated based on both the current input and the previous hidden state. Let's call this the "feedback Mechanism", and this enables RNNs learn from past data. Now guess what? This makes RNNs particularly effective for tasks that require understanding context over time! So we're talking about tasks such as speech recognition and language processing! I hope that was simple enough? Surely, there is more to it.
