We are so excited to announce the very first Senior Adult Spelling Bee brought to you by Discovery Village Castle Hills benefitting Book Drive for Kids . WHEN: Saturday, October 5th. @ 10AM We are looking for Spellers (54 years or older). They may have a youngster (ages 6-16) as part of their team or spell alone. Registration is $100. **We have some sponsors looking for spellers so you can participate at no charge. Ask about this. We are looking for Sponsors (to pay the registration for our Spellers). For $100, you will receive recognition on the Spellers bib, social media, program and at the event. There will be other prizes and a raffle for professional sporting tickets!! Thank you Dell Technologies, in coordination with Dell Grads Give, for hosting a free book fair for kids in foster care in Austin! 💕 In partnership with Sowing Hope, Book Drive for Kids Austin had multiple tables of brand new books 📚 for the youth to pick from. We served 31 kids in foster care from The Settlement Home for Children and Central Texas Table of Grace. The foster care youth handpicked 97 new books 📚 to take home and read! It was an awesome event with 90 interns at Dell helping. And the Dell interns made 800 bookmarks for our upcoming school book fairs! Thank you to everyone for your help!

National Ice Cream Day This 3rd Sunday in July is 'go get you some ice cream day!!!!' You have our permission! 🍦The Persian Empire put snow in a bowl and poured grape juice over it and ate it as a treat. 🍦Even in hot weather they were able to enjoy it. Their secret. They placed snow in underground chambers known as yakchal where the temperatures kept the snow from melting. 🍦They even hiked the mountains to collect snow for this sweet treat. 🍦Naples, Italy is credited as the birthplace of ice cream. Antonio Latini, created sorbet in 1642.

National Gingersnap Day 🍪This sweet and savory cookie with molasses, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and brown sugar dates back to 1296. 🍪Created by German monks, they called it "snappen". 🍪The next written history of them is not until the 1800's when Dutch colonists were making them regularly. 🍪Choose your favorite recipe of this yummy treat and get to baking!
