We’re providing accessible and exceptional care to make a healthier Boston.
About us
Boston Medical Center models a new kind of excellence in healthcare, where innovative and equitable care empowers all patients to thrive. We combine world-class clinicians and cutting-edge treatments with compassionate, quality care that extends beyond our walls. Together, we're reimagining healthcare for Boston - and the world. As an award-winning health equity leader, our diverse clinicians and staff interrogate racial disparities in care and partner with our community to dismantle systemic inequities. This commitment to equity is the basis of all our work, particularly as 70 percent of our patients are people of color. In addition, nearly 30 percent of our patients speak a primary language other than English, and so we offer all our care and services in over 160 languages, including Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, and more. As an academic medical center, BMC is building the future of health care. Our world-renowned researchers currently oversee over 660 research projects in a wide variety of areas, and as the principal teaching affiliate of Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, BMC is devoted to training future generations of health care professionals. BMC's clinical expertise, commitment to equity, quality, and sustainability efforts have been consistently recognized by organizations across the country, including the federal government, American Nurses Credentialing Center (Magnet designation), U.S. News, Leapfrog, Human Rights Campaign, the Lown Institute, Becker’s Healthcare, and more. BMC’s geriatrics program has been named one of the best in the country in this year’s rankings from U.S. News & World Report. “Our care is multifaceted. We look at the patient holistically, not just by their medical condition. By learning about their stories and families, we can give the patients better care.” – Hollis Day, MD, MS, MHPE, chief of geriatrics. Hospitals that receive a “best” ranking have excellent clinical outcomes, expert patient care, and high opinions from peer physicians. BMC’s Dr. Jennifer Davids, chief of colon and rectal surgery, spoke with CNN about a new study that found regular aspirin use may help lower the risk of colorectal cancer. Dr. Davids said it’s a major step in the right direction, but people should talk to their doctors first to determine whether regular aspirin is right for them. She also added: “This is not permission to give up on healthful eating, exercise, avoidance of smoking, and minimizing alcohol use.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eK76eWtP

Thanks to the generous supporters who joined us for yesterday’s BMC Kids Fund Classic, we raised more than $330,000 for BMC Pediatrics. Our pediatrics team leads the nation in providing expert care, pioneering research, and innovative programs to address the barriers to good health for kids and families. BMC’s internationally renowned Autism Program is one great example, and we were proud to have staff and patients with us at the putting contest again this year! Special thanks to co-chairs Enrique Colbert of Wayfair, Rick Kobus of Tsoi Kobus Design, and Charles Smith of Southern Middlesex Industries for their leadership. And shout-out to Boston Celtics legend Brian Scalabrine for hitting the greens with us. See more highlights: https://bit.ly/4cecn3O
