We are excited to see The Washington Post highlight the incredible work done by several amazing Breakthrough T1D-funded researchers and longtime collaborators on Vertex Pharmaceuticals' clinical trial for their stem cell-derived islet cell therapy. This piece, featuring a quote from Breakthrough T1D CEO Aaron Kowalski, Ph.D., shows why Breakthrough T1D and the T1D Fund are investing heavily in cell therapies to cure this disease, which includes funding many of the scientists featured in this piece as well as innovative companies like Semma Therapeutics through the T1D Fund. We will continue to work to ensure cell therapies, like the one featured in this piece, become a reality for the millions living with T1D. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gtf95J8c

A past Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF) Children’s Congress Delegate, Joshua is passionate about using his voice to speak about issues that impact the #T1D community, like insulin affordability. We appreciate all that he does to raise awareness about T1D. Early diagnosis and treatment of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), including Type 1 Diabetes, are crucial for improving care and the quality of life. Today, experts gathered at a high-level meeting organized by Breakthrough T1D, Friends of Mewar in collaboration with UNICEF India to address the urgent need. Hosted by Breakthrough T1D Global Ambassador, Padmaja Kumari Parmar, the meeting brought together representatives from UNICEF, charitable institutions, civil society organizations and the ImPatient Network. The partners convened here today are taking a significant step toward improved NCD detection, affordable quality care and management and building a social support system that leaves no one behind. We must act NOW to ensure affordable and accessible treatment for children, adolescents, and young people. Early detection and continuous monitoring are key to combating the rise of NCDs.
