  • So this is my day job at my auto upholstery shop that I started when I was 19 years old 35 years ago. When I started in upholstery this was the kind of car I learned on. We are just replacing the roof on this 1924 Buick. This job is why I started Bring Back the Trades, Inc as I needed to hire more younger individuals to help me grow my business.

  • Another success story of one of our Bring Back the Trades, Inc past scholarship winners Connor Fleming Well I started at seacoast school of technology in the welding program graduated 2016 then worked fabricating steel for novel iron works before going to divers institute of technology where I got the scholarship from you guys, I worked in the commercial diving industry for 2 years before moving in to the iron working industry where I’ve been for 3 years, hanging steel for mostly commercial buildings and some residential, doing a lot of structural welding all around northern New England for RMS ironworks.

  • We like to share what our past scholarship winners are up to. This is Hannnah and this is her story written by herself. My name is Hannah Dorfman. From the time I was a little girl I always enjoyed fixing and building things. My mom would say I should have nicknamed you Tink. I definitely love tinking on things. I also enjoy creating art. School wasn’t always easy for me, I had to work harder than some of my peers. If you needed me to fix it or build it then that was easy for me. From a young age I knew I wanted to do something in the trades. I love cars and going to car shows. I was excited to get into high school because there was so many trades you could choose from. I honestly wanted to try them all. I started out taking automotive at Spaulding High School at the Richard W. Creteau Regional Technology Center and really enjoyed it. Then I took Welding at Dover High School in the Regional Career Technical Center. I absolutely love welding and want to make a career out of it. I hope to also create more welding art and maybe have a business of my own someday. I graduated high school this past June and earned my first certificate after two years being in the welding program. After hard work I was inducted into the Technical Honor Society. I’m currently enrolled at Great Bay Community College to earn my last two certificates in Welding. I hope I can inspire more young women to get involved in the trades. I would like to give a big thank you to some amazing people who believed in me, inspired me, been amazing role models, pushed me to work hard and believe in myself. Mrs. Nicole Witham the Dover Hight School Welding Teacher, Mr. Jamie Lovejoy mentor with ArcSource, Mr. Doug Glover mentor and my first Welding boss with Barletta Engineering, Rochester School Department staff, Bring Back The Trades for giving me a scholarship and all the amazing information to help me start my new beginning, and most of all my family and friends for all their support and love. Thank you, Hannah Dorfman
