Attention All Climate Solutions and Infrastructure Businesses! In response to the pressing climate crisis, the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) for the development and operation of a 2.75-acre parcel on the Brooklyn waterfront for clean energy infrastructure or the production of technology addressing climate change.  The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation has a 130,000 sq ft parcel that is a prime location for clean energy infrastructure or the manufacture of products to address climate change. BNYDC is seeking to learn more about potential projects for the Site with these uses. Climate change is one of society’s most pressing global issues and one that requires the development, production and deployment of a significant amount of “devices” of varying sizes and scales (i.e. heat pumps, solar panels, electric vehicle chargers, transmission stations, battery energy storage systems, to name a few). BNYDC has a rare opportunity to redevelop the Site to provide critically needed clean energy infrastructure and/or establish industrial space that will develop products addressing climate change and create jobs in New York City’s emerging “green economy.” Tour dates listed on the RFEI. Just one week ago, we joined forces with our esteemed partners, Trust for Governors Island , New York City Economic Development Corporation , and NYC Mayor's Office of Talent and Workforce Development to mark Earth Month and highlight our shared commitment to creating a sustainable future and green collar talent pipelines. In a dynamic conversation moderated by Green City Force's Tonya Gayle, we discussed how the City can spearhead investments and work with promising organizations as outlined in the Green Economy Action Plan. The green economy is not just on the horizon—it's already here, and its poised to create nearly 400,000 jobs by 2040 and generate nearly $90 B in annual economic impact. Breaking News for BIPOC and Woman-Owned Businesses in Health and Beauty! Today, Mayor Eric Adams announced AYO LABS at the Brooklyn Navy Yard - a catalytic project for entrepreneurs in the wellness and beauty industry.    R. F. Wilkins Consultants, Inc. will develop and operate AYO Labs, a state-of-the-art facility to foster an innovation, economic mobility, and commercialization. The $25 million manufacturing ecosystem will to support over 100 entrepreneurs annually as they develop and scale their companies. The project, the brainchild of Francilia Wilkins Rahim, MBA, will be the nation’s largest Black-woman-owned contract manufacturing facility, anchored in a business incubator and accelerator. It's more than just a space; it's a game-changer for BIPOC and women entrepreneurs.   According to a 2022 McKinsey report, the beauty and wellness industry has a $450 billion market share, only 2.5 percent of the revenue can be linked to Black-founded or -owned beauty companies despite Black consumers making up 11 percent of spending. Last week, City of New York unveiled the groundbreaking Green Economy Action Plan, highlighting the City's commitment to eco-friendly collaboration and innovation. The NYC Mayor's Office of Talent and Workforce Development was thrilled to release the Green Economy Action Plan with its partners The New York City Economic Development Corporation, Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, and Trust for Governors Island.   The plan identifies the specific green economy occupations and jobs that will be on the frontlines of addressing climate change.
