About us
The Broward Center for the Performing Arts overlooks the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, The Center brings Broadway musicals, operas, ballets, concerts, plays, multi-cultural performances, films, lectures and numerous community workshops and educational events to South Florida while also creating unique and successful collaborations with partners in the arts, community, government and business. The vision to create a cultural centerpiece came to life at the Broward Center in the form of a grand, multi-venue arts and entertainment complex. The complex opened in 1991 and soon became the anchor of the downtown arts district. The Center's mission includes a strong focus on integrating the arts into education. A long-standing partnership with the School Board of Broward County has created an award-winning model for other communities through the Student Enrichment in the Arts (SEAS) program.SEAS activities are designed to advance specific educational goals tied into state standards, helping to develop our future workforce.

As the school year comes to a close, we’d like to recognize the thousands of Broward County students - and teachers - who took part in Student Enrichment in the Arts, the largest free arts-in-education program in the country -- thanks to a thriving partnership between Broward Center and Broward County Public Schools. SEAS has been at the heart of our education programs since the doors of the theater opened in 1991, serving more than 3.7 million students! Performances are tied to classroom curriculum for students grades K-12, with more than 130 performances taking place this school year plus workshops, study guides and much more that help make learning come to life. #SEAS #LearningThroughTheArts #ArtsEducation #BrowardCenterEducation #BrowardCenter

President & CEO- Broward Center for the Performing Arts; Presenter, promoter, bringing community together through shared experiences
It was a privilege to welcome the Arts for the Future scholarship winners to the Broward Center for the 25th annual Arts for the Future Scholarship Awards and meet the new Superintendent of School for Broward County, Dr. Howard Hepburn. Guests enjoyed a welcome reception and a live performance by their peers called Stars on Parade, featuring talented students from across the district with performances in dance, music, drama and more along with a beautiful display of artwork and photography. Thirty graduating high school seniors in the performing and visual arts each received a $1,000 scholarship for their college education. To date, more than $1 million has been awarded through the generosity of funders including Broward Education Foundation and the Amaturo Family Foundation. Congratulations to the winners! The partnership between the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and Broward County Public Schools is truly unique and one of a kind. Speaking to students whose education journey has included performing arts from pre-k thru 12th grade should be celebrated and held up as a standard for Arts Education. The future is incredibly bright for this talented group.

#VolunteerSpotlight: Meet Carol Lee, a devoted volunteer usher at Broward Center for almost 24 years. As she approached retirement, Carol Lee saw volunteering as a way to add meaningful purpose to her life. She continues volunteering because she loves being around others and bringing joy to their day. “Every shift is a new experience, unexpected events, some old, some new, never boring,” she explains. Nearly 24 years later, Carol Lee is still fulfilling her purpose. Her advice for new ushers is simple: ”It’s easy, folks. Have a positive attitude, put your best face on and have FUN!” she advises. Carol Lee, THANK YOU for your 24 years of outstanding dedication and loyalty.
