📢 COP 28 just concluded. Here's my overview of the key outcomes and agreements. My overall view: The conference reached landmark agreements on loss and damage and a clear ambition to transition away from fossil fuels. However, in the final accounting, much of the agreement feels like incrementalism. Against the urgency of the moment, and a year of record-breaking heat, small steps are not enough when giant leaps are needed. In the article below I cover the good and bad of the final texts on: -Loss and damage -Climate finance targets -The Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA) -The Global Stocktake (GST) and fossil fuels -Carbon markets -Just transition -Nature -COP 29 host -COP 28 overall https://lnkd.in/ezxfapFj #climatechange #cop28 #dubai #netzero #emissions #sustainability #decarbonization #climateaction #climatepolicy #climatefinance #climaterisk #linkedincreators #greenertogether

Let’s create a sustainable financial system that works for people and planet! I had such a great time podcasting with visionary Carl Pratt of Future Planet, sharing my perspectives on a variety of dynamic topics, including: 🌱 A vision for a equitable and just future 🌱 How finance is both an enabler of the challenge and the solution 🌱 3 blockers to unlocking a flowing river of sustainable finance 🌱 The need to create intentional networks of individuals within and between organizations 🌱 How to evolve our current financial instruments for a sustainable future We also talked about: Clean energy finance, universal basic income, and wealth redistribution, the difference between acting on climate and reducing carbon and ecological complexity, carbon pricing and Europe's proposed carbon border adjustment mechanism, and the challenges of reporting and what reporting ideally should be.
