Low Energy Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) and Permanent Storage
About us
Carba specializes in low energy Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) solutions with permanent storage. Through low temperature pyrolysis (torrefaction) we convert nature-based biomass/waste into graphitic carbon and permanently bury/store it for thousands of years. Carba is working with engaged stakeholders to solve the climate crisis. We plan to capture a gigatonne of Carbon per year by 2032.

Late last year, our team did our version of a red teaming exercise for carbon removal. If carbon removal fails this decade, why will it fail? Here are a few areas that we believe deserve more of our collective attention: https://lnkd.in/g4zxtAis

The EU Parliament is showing support for permanent removals to compensate for residual fossil fuel emissions. 🏭 On March 11th, EU Parliamentarians voted on the EU Green Claims Directive which seeks new criteria to stop companies from making misleading claims about environmental merits of their products and services and allow consumers to make informed environmental choices. Rule makers are therefore stepping up to regulate the use of carbon credits from the voluntary carbon market. Puro.earth welcomes the position of the EU Parliament which includes a “like for like” approach to the use of carbon credits. Therefore, only residual fossil fuel emissions should be compensated by permanent carbon removals. We believe that this can support activities which deliver the net in net-zero emissions and help consumers make informed choices. There are many issues that will need to be discussed during the next year, and we welcome that this position is open to permanent carbon removals globally, and are keen to find out more about the definition of residual emissions. Next steps: This is not a final political agreement between all EU institutions, this is only the position of the EU Parliament. The Member States are deciding their position, and we expect that the debate will continue after the EU elections. Given there are processes to implement, the EU Green Claims Directive should go-live from 2026.
