Which one would you choose? Olivia Rutman and her husband have three children. Their oldest is starting kindergarten this year, so they're scrambling to fit his short school day into their work schedules. Here are their options: "Option A: A public school that only covers three hours a day, so they would have to pay at least $705 for an after care program — if there’s a slot for their son, that is. Option B is a private school 20 minutes away that offers more overlap with their work days but the starting price is $2,435 a month." Kelsey Butler is back on her Equality beat for Bloomberg, talking about the ways the gap between work and school hours is costing parents and businesses. Plus, our CHRO Wes Burke shares how businesses can support parents so everyone wins, because, "This is not just a family issue, this is a business issue." Check it out at the link below and tell us if you'd choose Option A or B. ⤵

At Care, we’re moms, dads, daughters, sons, caregivers, and pet parents, which is why the work we do is so important to us. It’s also why we know first-hand just how tough it can be to juggle family and career responsibilities. We asked the working parents of Care to share what really helps them, well, work. We want to hear from you! Is there something your teammates do that makes you feel supported as a working parent? Please share in the comments. Jaliyah Appleberry, Backup Care Lead, told us that “Having co-workers that are also working parents makes the job so much easier. They are very considerate when you need time off for soccer games, practice, school recitals, etc. They are also understanding when you have a sick kiddo and need to step away.” Working parents know to expect the unexpected, and there’s nothing better than a team that has your back.

“Care benefits” are so much more than child care: “A Care Specialist helped me care for my aging grandfather, On Demand Tutoring gave my daughter extra support, and I even found a same-day house cleaner. As every working parent knows, breaks in child care can be stressful, but I don’t sweat teacher in service days or gaps in care during the summer because I know I have access to Backup Care” — Rebecca Hunter, Director of Government Account Management Working parents are under enough stress, and we’re determined to relieve some of it. At Care, we’re moms, dads, daughters, sons, caregivers, and pet parents, which is why the work we do is so important to us. It’s also why we know first-hand just how tough it can be to juggle family and career responsibilities. We asked the working parents of Care to share what really helps them, well, work.
