📐 #CountInCare | Today marks the deadline for companies required to file their 2023 talent reporting to the EEOC, the gold standard of workforce diversity data. Another year 'caregiving status' continues to be counted out of measured labor trends and connected outcomes - like retention rates and persistent pay gaps among women and mothers. By 2025, America will have 62+ million unpaid family caregivers in its working economy. Just 12% of today’s companies are attempting to identify ‘parents and caregivers’ as a defined diversity segment alongside demographics like gender, race, and job level. Why such low participation by businesses? Simply because caregiver status is an optional data point to track. Being a data-driven organization is only a phrase until employers begin to fill the largest data gap impacting our nation’s ability to compete. The diverse array of family structures in the U.S. is as beautiful and colorful as the pride flag itself, yet federal definitions of family don't necessarily reflect this diversity. Recognizing and supporting chosen families is crucial for the LGBTQ+ community, who often rely on these relationships for care and support. We need expanded care policies that include and acknowledge the varied caregiving needs of people across the country. #PrideinCare

✨ Last night, I had the joy of joining Parentaly for dinner feat. CARRY Media™ founder Paula Faris who shared her lessons in redefining work for working motherhood, from her book 'You Don't Have to Carry It All.' A networking night with Bay Area founders, Tech & HR leaders, and care advocates moving our shared mission forward. Even experts in the room were shocked when I noted America's current last place-ranking in work/life quality and care. As in 38th out of 38 global peers (source: Oxfam Care Index, 2023). Silver lining? The only way to go is up. And CareSprint is in great company. Thank you Allison Whalen & Jenna Vassallo for for your team's thoughtful gathering and longtime leadership!
