We're thrilled to announce that the Carolina Teacher Induction Program (CarolinaTIP) at USC has received $750,000 in recurring funding from the Legislature! This support allows us to expand our three-year program, providing group sessions and personalized coaching to more recent graduates transitioning into teaching. This year, Carolina TIP will welcome its largest cohort ever—100 new teachers in the Midlands and over 40 in the Pee Dee. We're also excited to increase our partner districts from nine to 15, ensuring even more support for South Carolina educators. #Education #TeacherInduction #ProfessionalDevelopment #SouthCarolinaEducation

CarolinaCrED offers three impactful graduate courses during the university's summer sessions designed to help teachers across South Carolina delve into the complexities of the #Holocaust. These courses are presented in collaboration with the SC Council on the Holocaust and Dr. Jeff Eargle from the Teacher Education Department at the University of South Carolina College of Education. In EDUC 633: Foundations of Teaching the Holocaust, guest speakers Henry Miller and Esther Greenberg, both children of Holocaust survivors, shared their families' poignant stories with the participants. EDUC 634: Teaching the Psychology of Genocide allowed teachers to explore the psychological factors that lead to genocide and provided strategies for teaching this challenging topic in classrooms. Every other summer, EDUC 635: The Holocaust in Poland Study Tour offers educators a unique opportunity to travel to Poland, visit historic Holocaust sites, and reflect on how to convey the significance of these sites to their students. We extend our gratitude to these South Carolina educators for their dedication to deepening their understanding of this crucial history and their commitment to fostering a more compassionate and informed world.
