  • Past Wednesday, July 3, 2024, we had the visit from Federal Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who learn about our history, our mission for social transformation, the community spirit that guides us, our vocation for education, art, health, the environment, research, media and technology, and present and future plans. She asked, listened with great attention, we shared with her about the proposals we have and he shared with us the current legislative challenges. We were glad to have gotten to know her more closely and that she expressed appreciation for the work of CCATe. ¡Viva la comunidad! #ccate #vivalacomunidad #mexicanosenelexterior

  • Thank you! Over the years, La Noche de ARTe has become a CCATE tradition, one that involves the entire community walking together to achieve our mission of social transformation. We extend our gratitude to CCATE families, students, donors, allies, volunteers, staff, university and corporate partners, speakers, artists, singers and to each local business and restaurant that support us. Together you made the night a memorable one. In spite of the rain and cold, 160 guests came out, making this another successful night. To each and everyone one of you: Thank you! Long live the community! IMPORTANT If you were unable to attend, come, you can still visit us, donate and or buy art.

  • Yesterday Wednesday 25 of April, CCATE received a visit from Latin American journalist Raúl Zabechi, who is a renowned chronicler of following social movements and popular education in Latin America. During his long career he has covered the Zapatistas of Chiapas, the popular university of Oaxaca, the Mapuche of Chile, and many other groups and movements. Visited CCATE to learn about our educational model based on community, art, media, culture, participatory research and popular education. During his visit he spoke with members of CCATE, he witnessed the family circle and we ended with a snack in the art gallery where he spoke with members of the artivists Diana Lugo and Lourde Flores. CCATE is one of his stops that he will make across the country to Los Angeles. He gave us a book of his authorship and told us that he indeed sees in CCATE the Zapatista roots of a community with a vision of justice and social transformation. Over the years CCATE has received revolutionaries of thought and action and we are happy that CCATE's message that an organized community can transform its environment is taken to the great homeland of Latin America. CCATE - Center for Culture, Art, Training and Education#ccate #vivalacomunidad #revarte #educaciónpopular  #Freire #paulofreire

  • https://lnkd.in/ebkJSnih Gracias, thank you for your support! Check our Newsletter and the College Road Trip of CCATE High School Group. “CCATE gives us an opportunity that schools usually don't give us. CCATE is a community that makes us feel included and heard. I loved the University of Pittsburgh” Carla. “These trips are important for us because they teach us the different careers and the different options we have as students. I am interested in Carnegie Mellon, knowing more about their specialties and what they teach, in addition to knowing what they offer. These trips help us make better and informed decisions” Alex. “These visits are important for high school students because you can visualize what your life can be like if you go to university, plus you learn about the opportunities that exist. I liked the University of Pittsburgh and I would like to study Political Sciences.”Angela.  “These experiences are important because they give us a better perspective on different schools and opportunities. These trips help us to open the way." Alison Obed Arango

Acquiring any new language is a challenge, however, teaching that dignifies and humanizes generates a new meaning when wanting to learn.
