Teachers Have Leadership Opportunities Center City teachers have the opportunity to serve as Master Teachers, taking on additional responsibilities and building their leadership skills. Center City teachers may also serve as curriculum writers, family engagement leads, or Summer Academy Directors.

Center City PCS welcomes our new Capitol Hill leadership, Principal Jacob Waites and Assistant Principal Kayla Shelton-Burleigh! Mr. Waites is a champion for the underestimated and the overlooked. He strives each day to increase the capacity of educators to help scholars navigate this complex world. Mr. Waites has been a principal for three years and has previously worked as a Resident Principal, Dean of Students, Dean of Instruction, and a math, history and special education teacher. Ms. Kayla Shelton-Burleigh is experienced with creating student-centered and data-driven results with a history of mentoring and teaching elementary students. Ms. Shelton-Burleigh is skilled in behavior management, positive behavior incentive supports (PBIS), data analysis, and strengthening school-wide culture. She's an adaptable leader, effective communicator, and innovative problem solver.
