As #Hurricane #Debby moves inland after making landfall in Florida it will bring dangerous #flooding to communities across the south Atlantic states. Our Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund allows our team to identify specific unmet recovery needs and funding gaps in each community. It was recently confirmed that Sudan was in "famine" but what exactly does that mean? A famine is attributed "when an area has at least 20% of households facing an extreme lack of food, at least 30% of children suffering from acute malnutrition, and two people for every 10,000 dying each day due to outright starvation or to the interaction of malnutrition and disease." In #Sudan, more than 25 million people need assistance, 10 million of them displaced from their homes, and #famine is now prevalent in parts of North Darfur. To address the Sudan famine crisis effectively, it is crucial to focus on both immediate relief and long-term recovery.
